About
Emmy nominated composer James S. Levine is best known for creating ground breaking scores to the hit television series’ Nip/ Tuck, The Closer, Damages, Glee, American Horror Story, Bloodline, Royal Pains, Rizzoli and Isles, Major Crimes, and The Blacklist. Since 2001, Levine has been honored by ASCAP and BMI with over 30 film and television music awards, including those for most performed underscore. Levine’s education and career began in Boston where he gained recognition as a pianist, musical director, and advertising composer. A passion for scoring film and television brought Levine west where he began work with Academy Award winning composer and scoring pioneer Hans Zimmer. This mentorship and collaboration led to Levine composing additional music for such films as “Pearl Harbor,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” “Madagascar,” and a co-scoring credit for Gore Verbinski’s “The Weatherman.” Levine’s work can also be heard on NCIS:LA, TNT’s The Last Ship, Lee Daniels’ STAR, ABC’s For Life, and numerous other television series. In 2011 Levine founded the “Law and Audio” production music brand with Extreme Music and Sony Music Publishing.
